Belgian War Graves at Hermalle-sous-Agenteau

The cemetery of the Church of Saint-Lambert in Herstal-Oupeye contains a mass grave of soldiers and veterans who died in both world wars.

It is believed that the graves were cleared over time and the remains were gathered together in this mass grave.

Buried and commemorated from the First World War:

ANSENNE Erasme, age 34, born in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau, sergeant in the Artillery of the Fortress of Liège (A.F.L.), died on October 17, 1914, in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau.

Buried and commemorated from the Second World War;

ANSAY Joseph, age unknown, member of the Resistance, killed in action in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau on September 8, 1944.

BRANDTS Raymond, age unknown, member of the Resistance, killed in action in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau on September 8, 1944.

COLLA Maurice, age unknown, resistance fighter, killed in action in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau on September 8, 1944.

HERION Fernand, age 22, born in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau, member of the Front Indipendant (F.I.), killed by German shrapnel in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau on September 8, 1944.
