During World War II, Y-32 Ophoven Airfield was an Advanced Landing Ground (ALG). Construction began on November 22, 1944, when the American 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion (EAB) began rolling out the PSP runway: a landing strip of perforated steel plates, 1,500 meters long and 40 meters wide. Y-32 became operational on 10 December 1944.
Y-32 closed on 29 May 1945. No infrastructure remains of Y-32. Most of the airfield is now an industrial zone and nature reserve.
