Memorial Executed Civilians Sassetot le Mauconduit

This pink granite memorial commemorates the four civilians who were shot dead by German troops on 10 June 1940. The text on the stone reads:

'A cet emplacement le 10 juin 1940 4 civils sassetotais furent fusillespar l’armee Állemande.
(At this location on 10 June 1940, four civilians from Sassetot were shot by the German army)

The names of the four civilians are inscribed on a stone (photo 3) near the church opposite:
Charles Deporte, aged 71
Ernest Avenel, aged 56
Louis Blondel, aged 36
Jean Hervieux, aged 71
