On January 10, 1942, a meeting was held here as part of Operation Postmaster. Seventeen civilian volunteers arrived at the invitation of Miles Clifford and then, after their briefing, proceeded to the harbor, where they boarded two ships: the Vulcan and the Nuneaton.
