This plaque commemorates Hermann Fürstenheim, born on December 27, 1877, in Bahn (Pomerania). He moved to Chemnitz and became general manager of the Tietz department store. The store was closed by the Nazis because the owner family, the Tietzes, and their senior staff were Jewish. On the night of November 9-10, 1938, four SA and SS men broke into the villa and murdered him. The body was burned and the ashes were then delivered to his wife Ida.
