Kaßberg Prison Learning and Memorial Site

The Kaßberg prison, which was built in 1876/77, served as a Gestapo prison for criminals, political opponents, and Jews during the Nazi era. After 1945, the Soviet secret service moved into the prison. Later, it served as a Stasi prison. In 2017, a monument was unveiled on the outer wall of the former prison wing B. Today, the prison is used as a museum and hosts permanent exhibitions about its turbulent history.
