Dutch War Grave Roman Catholic Cemetery Biezenmortel

In the south-east part of Biezenmortel Roman Catholic Cemetery is the grave of Dutch soldier Franciscus Martinus van de Pas. Frans was a young farmer, he lived in Udenhout in a old farm that used to be owned by his grandfather. In the first days of the war, Frans fought in national park 'De Peel' in the eastern part of Brabant. After these fights he was transfered to Zeeland, where the occupation by the Germans waited for three more days. During heavy combat in the city of Middelburg., Frans was shot down by German fire and died at the spot. He was buried localy and was reburied on Januari 10th 1941 in Biezenmortel.

The Mariakapel (chappel) in the Schoorstraat in Udenhout is dedicated to honor Frans and several other war victims.
