Commonwealth War Graves Zevendonk

At the General Cemetery in Zevendonk, Hamlet of the municipality Turnhout are three Commonwealth war graves, these are the graves of F/S C.F. Lloyd, Sergeant H. Price and Sergeant H.C.A. Warr. On July 21, 1942 at 2339 departed from the airbase Balderton, the Hampden AE244 with a bombing mission to Düsseldorf in Germany. The aircraft was shot down over Belgium by night-fighter Oberfeldwebel Fritz Schellwat 11NJG1. Then it crashed at around 0335 near Zevendonk. In the crash, three crew members got killed, they are buried in this cemetery. One crew member survived the crash and was taken prisoner of war by the Germans.
