National Museum of the Resistance

The "Nationaal Museum van de Weerstand" (Museum for the Resistance) reminds the visitor of a very black period of our history. The museum guards numerous documents and archives regarding the organization of the Resistance movement and its actions during the two world wars, witnesses about the barbaric practices of the Nazism, the 18 days campaign, the prisoners of war, the food supply distribution, the collaborators, the repression by the Nazis, racism, the armed resistance, the civil disobedience, the escape routes, etc. etc.. The museum does not only expose the historical inheritance but is at the same time a place of remembrance as well that it radiates a message of peace in order to avoid that those black pages of our history will ever be repeated again.

The weapon in photograph number 4 is the original hunting rifle that belonged to Hermann Göring.
