Memorial Complex "Soldier Field"
This area was site of heavy fighting during the Battle of Stalingrad (1942-1943). From 1975 demining of the area began and within a short time 7500 explosives were found. A large number of human remains were also found from that on. It was decided to establish a memorial site where the dead could have a proper burial and relatives had a place to mourn. About 1,000 human remmains are found each year during ploughing of the fields in this area.
