Memorials Liberation Berlage Bridge

On the Berlage bridge is a plaque commemorating the liberation of Amsterdam.
Text on the Plaque:

THE FIRST ALLIED LIBERATORS
WHO ON 7 MAY ALONG THIS BRIDGE
ENTERED AMSTERDAM, BELONGED TO THE
BRITISH 49th W.R. RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT.
ON 8 MAY FOLLOWED BY THE
CANADIAN FORCES.

THIS PLAQUE IS PRESENTED TO THE
CITY OF AMSTERDAM BY CANADIAN SOLDIERS
WHO SERVED IN THE NETHERLANDS TO
COMMEMORATE THE LIBERATION OF THE
NETHERLANDS AND IN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
OF THE GRACIOUS HOSPITALITY EXTENDED BY
THE DUTCH PEOPLE TO THE CANADIAN FORCES.
