Grave Memorial W.W.l Old General Cemetery Den Helder

Den Helder Old General Cemetery contains a grave memorial for five members of the pilotage from Den Helder who were killed by a mine on 2 May 1918 in World War l.

Text on the Monument:

In front of the Monument is a plaque with the names of the six crew members who were buried here: the sailors A. Arends, J. Schenk and M. Hoek, stoker J.G. Verharen, naval militia stoker M. Erkelens and naval militia chief steward G.J. Haavekost.
Text is not easy to read due to algae and age.
However, the grave monument makes it clear that the First World War also claimed victims in the Netherlands.
