Stumbling Stones Woldstraat 10

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Salomon Roos (geb. 1889, murdered in Auschwitz on 8-10-1942)
Anna Roos-van der Sluis (geb. 1891, murdered in Auschwitz on 8-10-1942)
Eddy Sally Roos (geb. 1921, murdered in Auschwitz on 30-9-1942)
Amalia Roos (geb. 1924, murdered in Auschwitz on 8-10-1942)
Rudi Roos (geb. 1937, murdered in Auschwitz on 8-10-1942)

The small copper plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted and mostly murdered by the National-Socialists, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
