War Memorial Spijkenisse

At the entrance of Spijkenisse Communal Cemetery at the Vredehofstraat a war memorial is located. It contains a stone pillar and two steel columns.

The following text is inscripted on the pillar:
‘COMMEMORATE THOSE WHO FELL
1940-1945
IN THIS CITY
IN OUR COUNTRY
IN INDONESIA’

On the colomns are the names of residents from Spijkenisse and surroundings who died elsewhere, including five soldiers in the Dutch East Indies and three victims who died in the neighborhood of Spijkenisse, including two British pilots.
