Belgian War Graves General Cemetery Maastricht

In the General Cemetery at the Tongerseweg in Maastricht is a Belgian field of honor from World War II. There are 43 Belgian soldiers buried on this field of honor, 5 of whom are listed as unknown. They all died in the border region with the Netherlands the first days of World War II in May 1940.

ANTOINE Paul, age 32, born in Namur, private of the 19th artillery regiment, wounded during the fighting around Vroenhoven and died of wounds on May 12th 1940.

RONVAUX Albert, age 24, private in the Engineers, born in Namur, killed in action at Vroenhoven on May 11th, 1940. First buried at Vroenhoven (probably field grave] and reburied at Maastricht on May 27, 1940.

VANCOPPERNOLLE Maurice, age 29, born in Anzegem, private with the 18th lineregiment, wounded on May 10th, 1940 during the fighting around Vroenhoven and died of wounds at the Calvariënberg hospital in Maastricht on May 11th, 1940.
