Stumbling Stones Wexstraße 4-6

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Berthold Rappaport (born 1932, murdered in Lodz on 23-9-1942)
Erna Goldberg (born 1890, murdered in Riga)
Walther Goldberg (born 1893, murdered in Lodz on 1-4-1942)
Kurt Hermann Goldberg (born 1919, murdered in Lodz)
Werner Richard Goldberg (born 1923, murdered in Lodz on 16-4-1942)
Hans Hermann Goldberg (born 1932, murdered in Lodz on 29-3-1942)
Fanny Rappaport (born 1900, murdered in Lodz)
Ella Rappaport (born 1925, murdered in Lodz on 28-10-1942)
Julius Rappaport (born 1927, murdered in Lodz on 29-3-1942)
Leib Rappaport (born 1885, murdered in Lodz on 29-3-1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
