Stumbling Stones Grindelberg 90

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Aron Adolf Stoppelmann (born 1894, murdered in Bergen-Belsen on 23-4-1945)
Werner Beit (born 1917, murdered in Auschwitz)
Bertha Beit (born 1913, murdered in Auschwitz)
Berl Beit (born 1941, murdered in Auschwitz)
Louise Loevy (born 1881, murdered in Riga)
Sophie Loevy (born 1886, murdered in Riga)
Vera Neustadt (born 1898, murdered in Riga)
Paula Stoppelmann (born 1896, murdered in Bergen-Belsen on 6-11-1944)
Leonhard Weinberg (born 1893, murdered in Neuengamme on 26-6-1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
