Stumbling Stones Heinrich-Barth-Straße 8

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Berthold Walter (born 1877, suicide on 7-8-1935)
Rolf Arno Baruch (born 1920, murdered in Auschwitz)
Marion Baruch (born 1919, murdered in Minsk)
Georg Baruch (born 1881, murdered in Minsk)
Elinor Wolff (born 1935, murdered in Riga)
Georg Wolff (born 1894, murdered in Riga)
Leo Wolff (born 1864, murdered in Riga)
Lilly Wolff (born 1896, murdered in Riga)
Toni Wolff (born 1869, murdered in Riga)
Machla Wolff (born 1904, murdered in Stutthof)
Willi Wolff (born 1888, murdered in Riga)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
