Westerplatte Museum

This branch of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk is located in the old power station from 1926, which was part of the Polish military base at Westerplatte. This is where the German invasion of Danzig began on 1 September 1939. Eight days of fierce fighting took place here before the Polish defenders were forced to surrender the peninsula. The museum tells the story of the former military base and the battles in September 1939.
