Memorial Halifax DT694

On 14 February 1943 Halifax II of RAF 158 Squadron was on the returnflight from a bomb raid on Cologne. The aircraft with pilot Squadron Leader W. Fletcher at the controls, was set on fire by a German night fighter. It crashed in the woods. Only E. Jackson and M. Pierre survived by baling out in time. The other 5 crew members perished.

The memorial is not easy to find. At the Tourist Information in Gulpen a leaflet with a memorial walking route is available.
