Bailey-bridge across the Leopold-channel

This Bailey-bridge, across the Leopeold-channel between Maldegem and Sint-Laureins, was build on 6 October 1944 by solders of the 7th Canadian Infantry Brigade of the 3th Canadian Infantery Division. It was used at the first stage of "Operation Switchback".

Nowadays it is one of the very few Bailey-bridges from the Second World War which is still in use. Locally it is known as the "Lievebrug".
