L'église Saint-Côme-et-Saint-Damien

A special feature of this town is the church, which was converted into an emergency hospital soon after the paratroopers landed. On June 6, 1944, and the following days, the village changed occupiers several times, but the medical work of two American medics could continue. Moreover, there is the special story of the mortar that fell through the roof of the church, and fell in the midst of the wounded and dying ... but somehow it did not explode!

Text on the red banner :
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his live for his friend
Il n y a pas de plus grand amour que de donner sa vie pour ses amis
June 6, 1944
