Stumbling Stone & Remembrance Tile Abraham Fernandes

A remembrance tile in the pavement of the Sportlaan in Vlaardingen, remembering Abraham Fernandes, was unveiled on 18 October 2014. Fernandes was a member of the resistance group 'De Geuzen'. He was arrested by the Germans on 24 February 1941. He died at the house of detention in Scheveningenas a result of torture during the night of 3/4 March 1941

A translation of the text on the tile:

"Here lived Abraham (Bram) S. Fernandes, member of the resistance group de Geuzen.
Born on 4 November 1906 in Paramaribo.
Arrested on 24 February in Vlaardingen.
Died at the house of detention in Scheveningen during the night of 3/4 March 1941.

Fernandes was the first member of the Geuzen resistance group from Vlaardingen to be killed.
