Memorial 50 years Reconstruction Rotterdam

The Delft Gate in Rotterdam was the city gate of Rotterdam
During World War ll by the bombing of Rotterdam, the port was destroyed on 14 may 1940.

Fifty years later, it was almost on the original site of the gate at the Pompenburg the Delft Gate created a reconstruction in steel, designed by the artist Cor Kraat.
In and around the gate are the remnants and some of the sculpted ornaments that have been spared from the original port.
On 18 may 1995, the 50th year celebration of the reconstruction of Rotterdam the gate was officially opened.
