Memorial ‘The Transvaal Boer’

This statue of a Boer with his gun was placed around 1900 to honour the Boer who fought in the Second Boer War.

Because many Boer were of Dutch origin, the Netherlands was pronounced pro-Boer and about 2,000 Dutch volunteers went to South Africa to fight on the side of the republics.
