Fort island IJmuiden - Wn. 37HM - Regelbau 671SK Schartenstand

This bunker is of the 671SK type, which is a modified version of the Regelbau 671. SK stands for Sonder Konstruktion, which means special or modified construction. In this case, it refers to the entrance, which is built on the side instead of at the rear. The built example is therefore a 671SK. The Heer (Army) designs used by the KriegsMarine were modified, which was mainly reflected in a different gun opening with a larger field of fire than the original Heer designs.
A special detail is the beautiful stepped gun opening. This was built in this form to prevent any projectiles fired at the bunker from ricocheting inside.

The bunker was used as land-side defence for the island. A captured English Vickers QF 3.7 inch (94 mm) gun was installed in the gun room. This gun had a maximum range of 10 km and could fire 10 rounds per minute.
