Lone Sailor Award

The Lone Sailor Award, presented annually by the United States Navy Memorial, honors Sea Service veterans who have excelled in their careers while embodying Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Established in 1987, the award is celebrated at the Lone Sailor Awards Dinner each September in Washington, D.C..

The Lone Sailor Award is inspired by the Lone Sailor statue, a bronze sculpture created by Stanley Bleifeld for the United States Navy Memorial. The statue depicts a sailor in uniform, standing with a sea bag at his side, symbolizing the resilience and dedication of those who serve in the Sea Services.
