Biography

Servicenumber K630 (WTS) and 2990190 (WAAF).

On 12th January 1942, Mary McClelland reported for duty with the Women’s Territorial Service (East Africa) in Nairobi. She was discharged from the WTS on 11th August 1944 after serving 2,5 years in Kenya. She went on to join the WAAF on 15th August 1944 and served in the Middle East. She was discharged on 31st August 1946.

Mary McClelland married Frederick Cullen in 1948. In regard to her work in Kenya with the Kenya Police Reserve during the Mau Mau Emergency between 1951 and 1958 she received the General Service Medal with Kenya clasp.
After her husband died in 1976, she remarried and is now known as Mary McLoughlin.
