After the armistice P/W from Camp 102 were released and went into the foothills of the GRAN SASSO. German paratroopers arrived and rounded up about 200 of the escapees, including PARKER. They were taken to SULMONA. On 3 Oct 43 they were taken to the station and entrained for GERMANY. At COCULLO station they spoke through a ventilation panel to the station master who arranged for the train to go slowly out of the station so that they could jump out. They jumped without being seen and lay up for three weeks in COCULLO. After this he made his way south and reached American lines on 13 Nov 43.
