Biography

Eric Parker enlisted in 1941, being granted a commission after much training in 1944.
During the war Pilot Parker flew 173.15 operational hours, his operational tour starting in August 1944 resulting in 31 Successful bombing raids, the majority over targets in Germany.

“Flying Officer Parker has completed 31 sorties as Pilot and Captain of Heavy Aircraft, attacking such heavily defended targets as Frankfort, Stettin, Stuttgart and Duisburg.

He has at all times shown himself to be a keen and skilful Captain, setting his mind to the task in hand fearlessly and with a fine offensive spirit, thereby setting a magnificent example to his crew.

He possesses a cheerful disposition, coupled with cool judgement both of which characteristics have stood him in good stead and enabled him to press home his attacks on numerous occasions with very good results.

I Recommend that this Officer be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in recognition of his fine offensive record while with this squadron.”
