On the night of 08.11.1943 during the breakthrough to the bridgehead near the village of Eltigen, he twice ensured the passage of his detachment to the Crimean coast, after which his "MO-122" was attacked by the enemy in the Kerch Strait, getting hit, caught fire, but the crew did not leave the burning boat and fought until their last breath.
