"He distinguished himself through courageous conduct against the enemy during hostile actions against terrorist gangs in West Java.
In particular, after careful training, he had formed a detachment of Indonesian volunteers – former republicans – into highly capable auxiliary troops. He was always an inspiring example to them through his courageous leadership and perseverance. Through continuous patrols in the area north of Tjikampek (West Java), he significantly contributed to restoring law and order there. Finally, after weeks of dangerous reconnaissance, establishing contacts, and clearing outposts, he captured the notorious gang leader Jasim on April 27, 1948, and managed to capture a quantity of weapons and important documents. He was mortally wounded during an enemy action on June 30, 1948, from which he died."
