"Distinguished himself by courageous and tactful conduct against the enemy.
As Commander of a company of combat vehicles, belonging to a mobile unit tasked with retaking Kali Djati airfield, he displayed courage and tactfulness in deploying his company during the battle on March 2, 1942, for the Japanese-occupied town of Subang, situated on the march route. This enabled the infantry company, which also belonged to the mobile unit, to continue its offensive movement somewhat and, in a later, perilous phase of the fighting, to break off the engagement."
