Biography
James John Barber, born October 13, 1924, in Poplar, London, England. He was reported casualty on September 25, 1944, during Operation Market Garden and held as a Prisoner of War (POW) No. 26064 and brought to Stammlager Stalag XII A Limburg/Lahn, Germany. Barber was reported Missing on October 14, 1944, then reported Prisoner of War in German hands on December 21, 1944. Eventually reclassified 'Killed in Action' on March 31, 1945. He transited through several German POW camps, from Stammlager Stalag XII A Limburg/Lahn to Stalag IV B Mühlberg on October 31, 1944 before arriving at Stalag IV G Oschatz on December 9, 1944. He was killed during an air raid on Leipzig on February 27, 1945 and eventually buried at the Commonwealth War Cemetery Berlin on March 3, 1945.
