Museum of the Defense of Brest Fortress

This museum is established in the surviving defence barracks of the fortress and contains 10 exhibition rooms.

The first room tells the history of the construction and modernization of the fortress during the 19th and 20th century. The second room is dedicated to the Polish period and the defence of the fortress in September 1939. The third room presents documents relating to the pre-war life of the Brest garrison and the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The fourth and fifth room continue with the history of the initial stage of the Great Patriotic War and the battles around Brest. The sixth and seventh room are dedicated to the defence of the Brest fortress in June 1941. The eight room informs the visitor about the fate of the surviving defenders of Brest. The ninth room presents many photographs, documents and personal belongings of the Brest defenders. The tenth and last room depicts how the Brest Fortress and the heroism of its defenders are reflected in works of literature and art.
