Memorial Jean Babel

This memorial is located along Route Nationale 89, between Bertrix and Libramont, a little deserted in the bushes at the beginning of a field road.

Luchy Forest was the site of much bloody fighting in August 1914.
The French army lost a lot of men there.
One of them was Lieutenant Gaston Jean BABEL, born 27.12.1879, classe 1899 of the French 11th Infantry Regiment, from the Haute-Garonne.
