The Hunting Lodge "The Jolly Duck" aan de Rotte

This house, a former hiding place for seven Allied airmen, was surrounded by Wehrmacht soldiers on April 29, 1945, resulting in a firefight. In the skirmish, resistance fighter [url ="https://www.tracesofwar.com/persons/80185"] Jacob Leendert van Rij and American pilot [url ="https://www.tracesofwar.com/persons/90051"] John E. McCormick were killed. They are buried in a collective grave in Zoetermeer[/url].
