Belgian War Graves Assenois

In the cemetery of Assenois is a tomb for the civilian casualties, killed on August 22, 1914 at the Battle of the Borders.

Below the crucifix is the text:
"Those who died piously for their homeland have the right to have the multitude come to their coffin and pray"

On the tomb are 2 plates with the names of the victims:
Left: Auguste DEVRESSE (82 years old) - Joseph HUBERT (72 years old) -
Joseph PHILIPPE (60 years) - Joseph GERARD (39 years) -
Emile DEVRESSE (29 years old) - Joseph HOUCHARD (20 years old)

Right: Arsene GILLARD (27 years old) - Ernest BORZEE (44 years old)
Cesar HAAS (44 years) - Hyacinthe ANSAY (42 years) -
Jean-Baptiste LAGNEAUX (40 years) - Alexis HUBERT (70 years)
