War Memorial Bergheim

The monument in Bergheim in front of the current chapel was erected around 1938. The monument stands in front of a quarry wall on a flat surface, five stone blocks form the actual monument. The top end consists of two flat sandstone slabs topped by a Stahlhelm. A dedication on the bottom two stone blocks, a sword with bay leaf slings on the third and fourth blocks. On all four sides of the fifth block an iron cross and a hanging wreath of bay leaves. Left and right on the pages the names of those who died in the First World War and at the top the words:
"They died a hero's death"
After World War II, two stone nameplates were attached to the quarry wall behind the monument. The signs bear the inscription:
1939 1945
Our Fallen ".
