Statue of Liberty Hoofddorp

This artwork was commissioned by the Haarlemmermeerse 5 May committee, 60 years after the liberation in 1945.
On a round plateau of black terrazzo are two bronze urns surmounted by a man and a woman. The couple, with the peace dove on their heads as a symbol of freedom, rise from the oppressive urns. A rose-red bench, also made of terrazzo, flanks the stage. It has a bronze suitcase on it.
The artwork is a design by artist Nicolaas Dings.
