Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego was established in December 1914 for the U.S. Marine Corps in the San Diego area. The base (U.S. Marine Corps Base San Diego) was used for training and educational purposes during World War II. After the war, the base was renamed Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
