Information Board Huize De Brug - Saluti Juventutis

Shortly before the war and during the first years of the war, the home also took in Jewish orphans who were given different names there. The then director, Miss Catharina Mulder, ensured that the children were transferred to a safe address from where they were taken by brave resistance members to hiding places elsewhere in the country. Director Catharina 'Katy' Mulder also ensured that children were hidden during various German raids on the home.
Katy Mulder was awarded the Yad Vashem award by Israel in 1964.
The home was demolished in the 1960s. In the early 1990s, apartment buildings and some detached houses were built on this site. Only the original manager's house at number 189 remains.
