Memorial American Soldiers

This memorial commemorates two American soldiers who were killed on this location on 11 September 1944:

Sgt. Bradford S. Conley (21 yrs)
Tec.5. Harry F. Kested (25 yrs)

Sgt. Conley commandet an M5 Greyhound tank. Near the village of Baelen (Membach) the tank was hit by a direct hit of a Germand Tiger tank. Of the crew of 4, only one survived by jumping out in time.
The other three including Sgt. Conley en Tec. 5 Kested got killed.

Both serverd with the 83rd reconnaissance Battalion of the 3rd Armoured Divsion.
