Crash Site B17 A/C 42-5829 "Memorial Kusy"

During a mission to bomb factories near Kassel-Bettenhausen (DE) the B17 A/C 42-5829 "Flying Jenny" crashed here at 08:15 on 30 July 1943. The aircraft was attacked by German anti-aircraft (FLAK) and fighters on its way back and shot down by Uffz. Gerd Wiegand (8/JG26) in a Fw 190. 4 of the crew were killed and the other 6 were captured.
