Memorial Marhall Noah Lawes

This memorial stone on the driveway of the bridge named after him commemorates Marshall Noah Lawes of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, R.C.I.C. who fell in this area on 5 April 1945 during the liberation of Zutphen.
The bridge, which was opened in 2010 in the presence of Marshall Lawes' next of kin, partly consists of parts of an old bridge over the Twente Canal, which was heavily fought over by Canadian troops in 1945.
