Roadblock Sart-Tilman

At the top of Rue du Sart-Tilman is a concrete inlet, where roadblocks were held. If the road had to be blocked urgently, these roadblock (See photo 4, example of roadblock at Fort Eben-Emael) could be pulled onto the road from this position.

One would drive right past them not realizing that this is a piece of World War II history.

Lower down this same road are also two roadblocks installed. The so-called bornes anti-char. Anti-tank posts, literally translated.

Around this forest there was heavy fighting in both World Wars and the Belgian army suffered heavy losses. By steadfastly defending these positions, the Belgian army gave the parts of Liege behind them time to further prepare for the approaching German troops and take further measures to defend the citizens of Liege.
