Hotel "Het Witte Huis"

This building dates from 1930 and was originally built as a hotel called "Het Witte Huis". During the May days of 1940, the command post of the 11th Border Battalion was set up in the then hotel. In May 1940, this unit was responsible for the defense of the Maas-Waal Canal from the lock at Weurt to the (railway) bridges at Neerbosch in Nijmegen.

The commander of the 11th Border Battalion was Major W.G. Bender.
