War Memorial Plumelec

This monument commemorates the civilians and soldiers from Plumelec who died during the Second World War. In front of a wall bearing plaques with the names of the victims stands an altar with a large statue of Christ.

The plaques mention different groups of victims:

- Paratroopers - (presumably those who were killed or executed in this area during Operation Dingson)
- FFI (Free French Forces)
- Military personnel
- Civilians

The altar is flanked by two tombs. The left tomb contains the remains of Captain Pierre Marienne. He was a member of the French section of the SAS and was captured by the Germans during Operation Dingson and executed on 12 July 1944, together with six of his men and 11 French resistance fighters and civilians, near Kerihuel.
