This monumental war memorial, created by Lode Eyckermans (1919-1998), is located in the field of honour and centrally in the Steytelinck cemetery. It was inaugurated on 9 May 1954. The group of sculptures, depicting female figures embracing soldiers, is placed on a round pedestal with a bluestone plinth. Against the brick wall is a white stone relief bearing the coat of arms of Wilrijk, with six bronze plaques on the back bearing the names of the victims of both World Wars.
