This farmhouse was built in 1920 and, in May 1940, was set up as a so-called "aid post," or a wounded shelter, for the defense sector of the 2nd Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment. This unit had been assigned to defend this section of the Betuwe Line in May 1940.
Wounded soldiers could be transported from this aid post by stretcher or vehicle to a first aid station located in the village of Lienden. This first aid station was located in a farmhouse opposite the ferry to Rhenen. Each first aid station was situated approximately 2 kilometers behind each regiment's defense line.
